Stillness and ice. A period of pause and reflection is needed. Nothing moves — use this time for deep inner work. The lake under ice still holds its fish.

Diese Rune ist nicht umkehrbar. Sie trägt dieselbe Ladung, wie immer sie fällt.

Isa has no reversed meaning — the freeze is absolute. Patience is not optional; it is the only way forward. The thaw will come on its own schedule.

Past: a period when you were rightly still. Present: do nothing — and do it deliberately. Future: the freeze will break, but not by your hammering. Near Hagalaz and Nauthiz, the message is uncompromising: this is winter, sit with it.

A single vertical stroke — the simplest rune, and the hardest. Isa is the frozen river the Norse walked across in winter, the bridge that is also a trap if you stop too long upon it.
