Hagalaz has no reversed meaning — its transformative storm is inevitable. Accept the clearing and trust what emerges in the silence after.

A weather rune for the soul. Past: an event you did not choose. Present: surrender; do not waste energy resisting. Future: clearing. Often opens a reading that has been long avoided. Pairs with Nauthiz (need) and Isa (stillness) as the "winter triad".

The first rune of the second aett. Hagalaz is the seed-grain that destroys the harvest only to melt and feed the next. In old Icelandic verse it is "the coldest of grains" — and the most necessary.
