The Map of Your Soul

A natal chart (or birth chart) is a snapshot of the sky at the exact moment and location of your birth. It is a 360-degree circle divided into 12 sections called Houses, each ruled by a Zodiac sign.

The Four Components

To read a chart, you need to understand four main components:

1. Planets: The "What". Planets represent different parts of your psyche (e.g., Venus is love, Mars is action).
2. Signs: The "How". Signs describe the style or manner in which a planet expresses itself (e.g., Venus in Scorpio loves intensely).
3. Houses: The "Where". Houses represent the specific areas of life where these energies play out (e.g., Venus in the 10th House brings love to the career).
4. Aspects: The "Relationship". Aspects are the angles between planets, showing how they interact (e.g., a square creates tension, a trine creates flow).

Start with the Sun, Moon, and Ascendant

If you are overwhelmed, just focus on the "Big Three" first. Once you understand the interplay between your core self (Sun), emotional self (Moon), and outer self (Ascendant), the rest of the chart will start to make more sense.
