When balanced
When the root is steady you feel safe, stable, and at home in your body. The mortgage gets paid, the body gets fed, the friend gets answered. There is a low, dependable hum of belonging — to a place, a lineage, a body that is yours. Routine feels nourishing rather than confining.
When imbalanced
When the root is blocked the body reports anxiety, restlessness, financial worry, lower-back tension. There is a free-floating sense of not quite belonging anywhere — to no city, no family, no skin. Decisions get scattered because the ground keeps shifting under them.
Practices to balance
- Walk barefoot on earth — grass, sand, soil. Ten minutes is enough.
- Mountain Pose (Tadasana) — stand still, feel each toe root into the floor for ten breaths.
- Eat root vegetables and warm, cooked food for a week.
- Stabilize one daily rhythm — same wake time, same first cup, same walk.
- Carry hematite, or keep a piece on the desk where you work.
