Elk, protection. Elk-sedge — the raised antlers.

Protection, sanctuary, and divine connection. A shield of higher power surrounds you. Trust your instincts — they are divinely guided. The elk lifts its head and the wolves move on.

Vulnerability and lowered defences. You have ignored warning signs. Reconnect with your spiritual guardians; the field has too many gates and not enough watchmen.

Past: a protection that saved you, named or unnamed. Present: ward your space. Future: safety, if you accept it. With Thurisaz it is a fortified rune; with Eihwaz, a sacred grove. One of the most clearly positive omens.

Algiz is shaped like the spread fingers of a hand raised in warning, or the antlers of the elk. It is the rune of the warding gesture and of the sanctuary — a place set apart and held holy.
