Human, mankind. Mankind — know thyself, know thy people.

Humanity, self-awareness, and community. Know thyself — this is the key. Social bonds and shared human experience uplift you; the self is mirrored in the village.

Isolation and self-deception. You project faults onto others. Loneliness comes from disconnection with your true nature; you have stopped listening to either yourself or anyone else.

Past: a relationship that defined who you are. Present: examine yourself honestly. Future: community matters most. The rune of the therapist, the teacher and the friend. Pairs with Gebo, Wunjo and Ansuz.

Mannaz is the rune of the human being — both the individual self and the wider mannish kin. In Eddic verse, "the joy of man is in his fellow" — Mannaz holds that truth.
